The course is made up of 9 units that provide information, reflection, and planning activities to help you develop essential skills. It’s fully online and self-paced, giving you the flexibility to study around your other commitments.
Guided by a qualified and experienced learning mentor, you’ll work through learning materials and assessments based on the latest research that will help you become a competent and effective business coach or mentor.

Unit 2: The Skills Needed by a Business Mentor
Unit 2 looks at essential skills and tools for effective mentoring such as effective communication, building rapport, providing feedback, and reflective practice.
Unit 3: Understanding the Legal and Ethical Requirements


Unit 4: Creating and Supporting a Business Community
Unit 4 looks at how to build and launch a successful business community.
Unit 5: Running an Action Learning Set
Unit 5 covers the concept and benefit of action learning sets, including their key features and the facilitator’s role.


Unit 6: The Competing Demands Facing Business Owners
Unit 6 looks at the emotional investment and motivations behind starting a business, the competing demands business owners face, and the importance of values like integrity, community, and stewardship in entrepreneurial practices.
Unit 7: The Financial Aspects of Running a Business
Unit 7 covers the financial requirements and funding options for starting and running a business. It also looks at the importance of cash flow and key accounting terms you’ll need to understand as a business mentor.


Unit 8: Marketing, Sales and Customer Service
Unit 8 explores marketing, good customer service, and selling techniques, equipping you to support businesses to build strong customer relationships and sales strategies.
